~~~~~~Potato Bread~~~~~~
I am sorry to say that I do not have much to say about this Daring Baker Challenge. The Kids did not feel like making bread so I did it all alone while writing a paper comparing the Dhammapada to the Book of Job.
The bread tasted good; however, the temp of 450 F was a little too high and it got too dark on the outside for me.
We all eat so much of the bread when it came out of the oven that the whole family was in a bread coma for several hours and the 3 day old leftovers turned into GREAT french toast. Thank you Tanna (Tana is my aunts name) for giving a new challenge with bread.
I love the Challah shape you gave it. I actually baked mine for 10 min at 450F, then at 400 F for the rest of the baking time.
looks great, i like the golden color
Great job on the braid! It looks lovely.
Love the braid! I baked mine in 425F actually, after seeing some smokes coming out from the oven!
Your braid is lovely and the crust is perfectly golden. I think during the course of the month, everyone agreed that the 450 needed to be lowered a few minutes. Great job on the challenge
Beautiful Challah.
Had I any left-overs, I would follow your suggestion and make French toast.
Beautiful loaf of bread!!
Yeah, I adjusted the heat. A lovely braid.
Great shape! Well done!
Cheers,
Nice job! What a work of art on that braid! Yum, a slice of that with a big hunk of butter for me!
It looks great!
It looks beautiful!! I thought the temp was too high, too, so I ended up turning it down.
DAMN...that bread looks amazing. How in the world did you do that?
Great job.
That looks so beautiful! How clever you are!
Awesome braided loaf there. And now we know that it isn't just the kids who can bake ;) But I think they missed out on the super stickiness - ha ha. Great job!
-jen at use real butter
It looks wonderful and the shape is great! This must have made excellent french toast.
Even though you were quite busy when you made it, your testimony of the whole family eating it seems pretty indicative that it was a winner! Glad to have you with us again this month! The braid is just beautiful!
Yeah, the 450 made my loaf a bit crisper than I would've liked, but still, it was delicious! Your Challah is gorgeous! I really wish I'd had enough left over for French toast!
Lovely shape.. I think the crust colour has a lovely goldeny brown to it!
Your bread looks so tasty.
Making French toast out of it is genius!
Bread coma ... sounds nice! Love the bread!
Beautiful job on your potato bread. The braid is simply lovely.
Dear Shayne,
Thanks for dropping by my blog and the lovely comment you left.
I know that you wrote that your bread turned out darker then you liked, but it does have a lovely deep glow that looks great in the photos and sounds like everyone loved the taste too. I wish I could have braided mine, but my dough as too soft. Maybe for next time. :-)
Ah, the ubiquitous carbohydrate coma! I'm sorry your little ones couldn't join you... I was looking forward to photos of them covered in sticky potato dough. In the end, a beautiful braid!
