My First Daring Baker Challenge

~Cinnamon Rolls~

The kids and I had a good time with this one we measured and mixed and let it rise. Then we all took turns rolling out the dough and sprinkling on the toppings. The toppings, for the most part, were the ones suggested I just added a 1/2 a teaspoon cayenne and pecans.

They were tasty; however, the dough rose too fast so the flavor did not have time to develop and the bottom of the sticky buns were a little over done. That did not stop them from disappearing within a few short hours. Thank you Pip in the City for hosting this month's challenge.

Thank you so much. I was just looking at all the other DBers and the rolls are so beautiful, but we had fun making and eating them.

I think your two little helpers played a key role in the perfect outcome of the cinnamon rolls...all three of you did an outstanding job! :-)

How cute are those pictures of your kids helping out. So great of you to let them participate.

Some days I think I should have kids just to have someone to teach in the kitchen. Okay, that might not be the best reason, but how fun!

Thank you everyone. The kids and I had a blast doing the rolls. I split the dough in half and let each have half to roll out and spread the cinnamon mixture. DD tried to roll up the dough but it was just too sticky. the rest of the rolls looked rough because they put them in the pans that is why you see the ones you see.

Cooking with kids can be very challenging because they can't always follow directions but we always try to have fun and I always find some way to get them involved.

That certainly looks like a challenge (to me anyway!) but looking at your results, maybe I should give it a go. =)

What a kitchen crew you have. My son and I used to do the same thing when he was growing up. Now guess what his career is - a very excellent chef. Went to school at the Culinary Institute in Hyde Park, NY and has been cooking ever since he was small! So...early training!

Wow Deb that is a great story. I don't know if they will be chefs but I sure hope they have a love for cooking when they are adults, becoming a chef would just be a bonus...My 3 year old daughter says she wants to be a Queen and a Doctor when she grows up though.

Like the twenty-some people before me, I love that you had your kids helping you make the cinnamon buns and that you keep them active in your kitchen. Trust me, you're creating memories now that they will treasure for the rest of their lives.
